Your economic policies are impoverishing Nigerians,” ACF criticizes Tinubu.

ACF Criticizes Tinubu’s Economic Policies, Calls for Review

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on President Bola Tinubu to revisit his economic reforms, urging that they be more attuned to the challenges faced by Nigerians, especially those in the northern region.

In a communiqué issued after their National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Kaduna on Wednesday, the ACF expressed dissatisfaction with the current administration’s economic policies, claiming they have intensified the hardships faced by the average Nigerian.

The Forum underscored the specific vulnerabilities of the northern region, highlighting issues such as food insecurity, limited access to education and skills training, and an overreliance on microeconomic activities for survival.

While the ACF acknowledged the importance of economic reforms, it stressed that these reforms should not deepen poverty or worsen the hardships of citizens.

It pointed out that many people in the region rely on small-scale activities to sustain themselves, and such livelihoods should not be further jeopardized.

The Forum also noted that although the northern region faces serious food insecurity and a lack of educational opportunities, these challenges are not insurmountable and can be reversed with the right policies and investments.

“The reforms, while essential, should not impoverish the very people they are meant to serve.

Without the necessary sensitivity, the people may not survive to benefit from them,” the communiqué concluded.
