Who is Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas?
Born on September 27, 1960, in Cross River State, Ibas has had an illustrious career in the Nigerian Navy.
He served as the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff from 2015 until his retirement in 2021.
His contributions to national security earned him an appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana in 2021.
A Journey of Excellence in the Nigerian Navy
Ibas’ military journey began in 1979 when he joined the Nigerian Defence Academy as part of the 26th Regular Course.
He steadily climbed the ranks, serving on multiple naval ships and holding key positions such as:
- Executive Officer of several naval ships between 1993 and 1996.
- Commander of the Nigerian Navy Underwater Warfare School (1997–1998).
- Chief of Naval Staff from 2015 to 2021.
