US Conducts Airstrikes on ISIS Targets in Somalia

The United States military launched precision airstrikes against ISIS targets in Somalia on Saturday, as announced by former US President Donald Trump.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “This morning I ordered precision Military air strikes on the Senior ISIS Attack Planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia.”

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed the operation, stating that the strikes specifically targeted ISIS operatives in the Golis Mountains, located in the semi-autonomous Puntland region of Somalia.

“Our initial assessment is that multiple operatives were killed in the airstrikes, and no civilians were harmed,” Hegseth noted in an official statement.

He further emphasized that this action was part of an ongoing effort to neutralize terrorist threats. “This strike degrades ISIS’s ability to plan and execute attacks that endanger US citizens, our allies, and innocent civilians.

It also reinforces our commitment to eliminating threats to national and global security,” he said.

Though ISIS maintains a smaller presence in Somalia compared to the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab group, security experts warn that its influence is growing.

Trump reinforced the US’s stance against terrorism, declaring, “The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is clear—WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!”
