Police Arrest Two Suspects with 25 Stolen Phones in Borno

On December 11, 2024, the Borno State Police Command announced the arrest of two individuals, Ibrahim Abubako (18) and Ibrahim Mohammed (18), for possession of 25 stolen mobile phones. The arrest took place on December 10 at around 1:50 PM during a stop-and-search operation on Damboa Road, Maiduguri. The suspects were traveling in a tricycle when the police found the phones.

According to ASP Nahum Daso, the police spokesperson, the suspects admitted to stealing the phones from various individuals in communities along the Borno-Adamawa State border, including Mubi town, Tashan Alade, Miringa, Kwaya Kusar, and Biu Local Government Area. They reportedly snatched the phones from their owners in these regions.

The authorities are working to return the recovered phones to their rightful owners. The suspects are expected to be charged in court after further investigation.

The police have also reassured the public of their commitment to maintaining security, especially during the festive season. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure public safety.
