In a significant development, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named Massad Boulos, a Lebanese-American businessman, as Senior Advisor on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, highlighting Boulos’s role in strengthening ties with Arab American and Muslim communities during his campaign.
Boulos, whose son is married to Trump’s daughter Tiffany, will now oversee a challenging geopolitical portfolio, including the ongoing Gaza conflict and tensions in Lebanon and Syria.
Trump also appointed Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared, as U.S. Ambassador to France, continuing his trend of selecting close associates and family members for key roles.
Critics have questioned the qualifications of these appointees, citing Trump’s focus on loyalty over expertise.
Boulos, described as a “dealmaker” by Trump, is expected to push for swift resolutions to conflicts in the Middle East, emphasizing peace and economic growth in the region. His family’s business ties in Nigeria and his Christian Maronite background further add to his diverse profile.
This marks another controversial choice in Trump’s transition team, raising discussions about nepotism and political loyalty shaping U.S. foreign policy.
