True Leadership: Shettima Praises Humility and Vision as Keys to Success

Vice President Kashim Shettima has shared profound insights on leadership, emphasizing that humility and a clear vision are the hallmarks of successful leaders.

He pointed out that true greatness in leadership does not stem from an insatiable thirst for power but from the ability to inspire and unite people.

Speaking at the traditional wedding ceremony of Toluwatimi Esther Oyebanji and Ayodeji Kenny Akinyemi held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the event, he showered accolades on Ekiti State Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, describing him as a leader whose character exemplifies humility and inclusivity.

Reflecting on Governor Oyebanji’s leadership style, Shettima commended his remarkable ability to bring people together, particularly his predecessors.

“Leadership is about building bridges and fostering unity,” Shettima remarked.

The Vice President recalled his interactions with Oyebanji during his tenure as Secretary to the State Government, noting, “His humility was evident, and I had an intuitive sense that he was destined for greater heights.

Today, he stands as a governor whose actions speak louder than words.”

Shettima highlighted Oyebanji’s unique achievement of uniting four former Ekiti State governors under one roof, a rare feat in Nigerian politics.

“This shows a lot about his personality and ability to embrace others, regardless of differences. We all have something to learn from him,” he added.

Addressing the couple, Shettima extended his best wishes, saying, “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I wish you a happy and fruitful marriage.

May your union be blessed with love, understanding, and patience.”

The high-profile wedding attracted an impressive list of dignitaries, including governors, senators, and notable public figures.

Some of the prominent attendees were Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Ekiti State Governors Kayode Fayemi and Ayodele Fayose, and Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu.

Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), who chaired the occasion, urged the couple to take inspiration from the array of respected personalities who graced their wedding.

He emphasized the importance of family values, unity, and national cohesion, which were evident from the gathering.

Earlier in the day, Vice President Shettima attended the wedding Fatiha of the sons of Kano State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, at the Al-Furqan Jumma’at Mosque in Kano.

The ceremony, officiated by Chief Imam Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, saw Shettima representing Muhammad Abdullahi Abbas, one of the grooms.

The event concluded with heartfelt prayers for the couples, with dignitaries like Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin in attendance.

Shettima’s remarks serve as a timely reminder that the essence of leadership lies in the ability to connect, inspire, and leave a legacy.

His commendation of Oyebanji’s character underscores the need for leaders who prioritize unity and humility over power and ambition.
