A deadly tanker explosion in Ibadan has claimed the life of a driver and left one person injured. The tanker, carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), reportedly lost control and collided with two other trucks before overturning into a pit and erupting in flames.
The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.
He explained that the tragic event occurred around Fijabi House, Agbowo, along the Ojoo/Iwo Road Expressway.

According to Akinyinka, the agency received an emergency call about the fire at approximately 2:45 a.m. and immediately dispatched personnel to the scene.
“Upon arrival, our team discovered three trucks within a 20-meter radius engulfed in flames.
The tanker driver was tragically burned to death, while the motor boy was rescued alive and rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for medical treatment,” Akinyinka said.
He further revealed that while the tanker was completely destroyed, firefighters managed to save the other two trucks from significant damage.
The team also contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby residential areas.
