A horrific road accident on the Benin-Auchi highway in Edo State claimed the lives of 12 passengers on Saturday morning after a Toyota Hiace bus collided head-on with a truck.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Cyril Mathew, confirmed the incident, which occurred at Igueoviobo community near an army checkpoint around 5 a.m.

- The Toyota Hiace bus, which took off from Zuba, FCT, was heading to Benin City before the accident.
- The head-on collision with a truck resulted in an immediate fire outbreak, killing all passengers on board.
- Fatigue and drowsiness on the part of the bus driver might have caused the tragic accident.
- The truck driver and his assistant survived unhurt.
