Family Seeks Justice for Pregnant Woman Allegedly Killed by Husband in Edo
A heartbreaking incident has left the Izekor family in mourning as a pregnant woman, Success Izekor, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Kelvin Izekor, in Edo State.
The shocking case has sparked outrage, with family members and market traders demanding justice.
Who Was Success Izekor?
Success Izekor was described by her elder sister, Ugiagbe Iziegbe, as a kind and peaceful woman who avoided trouble. She ran a clothing and PoS business at Oregbeni Market, while her husband was a fish farmer.
Their marriage, which lasted only eight months, was reportedly troubled by domestic violence.
A History of Abuse
According to Ugiagbe, Kelvin frequently beat his wife. Success often sought refuge at her sister’s house, only to be persuaded to return home by her husband’s mother.
The cycle of abuse continued despite repeated warnings.
Events Leading to Her Death
On the night of her death, Success had planned to visit her sister but later changed her mind.
She later called to say that her husband was beating her again. By the next morning, her phone was switched off, and her whereabouts were unknown.
Ugiagbe searched for her sister at home and her business place but found only locked doors.
It wasn’t until Sunday night that she received devastating news—Success had been murdered.
Community Outrage and Arrest
Neighbors reported that Kelvin tried to remove his wife’s body from their apartment, claiming he had informed her family.
When confronted, he attempted to flee but was stopped and handed over to the police.
Investigations revealed that Success was four months pregnant at the time of her murder.
The police have transferred the case to the Edo State Criminal Investigation Department, and an autopsy has been scheduled.
A Call for Justice
Ugiagbe has taken to social media to demand justice, emphasizing that Kelvin not only killed her sister but also the unborn child.
Market traders, who described Success as a trustworthy and kind-hearted woman, have also joined the call for justice.
The tragic case of Success Izekor highlights the dangers of domestic violence and the need for stronger protections for women.
As the investigation continues, the public and family members are urging authorities to ensure justice is served.
