In a heartbreaking incident on December 20, 2024, three police officers and a female suspect tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State.The officers, who had been dispatched from the Ondo Police Headquarters, were on a mission to arrest the female suspect in Ore. While heading towards Akure, their police van was involved in a collision with a trailer. The trailer, which was traveling from the Ijebu-Ode direction, reportedly lost control before crashing into the police vehicle.Sadly, all the victims were confirmed dead at the scene. One police officer, who sustained severe injuries, was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.Ondo State police spokesperson, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, verified the tragic event, and Samuel Ibitoye, the Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), indicated that overspeeding was a major factor contributing to the accident.The remains of the deceased have been transported to the state hospital morgue in Ore.Stay tuned to NIGPOST for further updates on this incident.
