Bandits have once again unleashed terror in Zamfara State, killing four people and kidnapping several others, including the Vice Chairman of Bukkuyyum Local Government Area, Hon. Bala Muhammad Maijidadi.
The attacks, which took place between Sunday night and Monday morning, targeted multiple communities, leaving residents in shock and despair.
Night of Horror: Multiple Communities Attacked
According to reports, the first attack occurred in Shemori community, Mada District of Gusau, around 9:20 pm on Sunday, where gunmen abducted six women.
By early Monday, another group of bandits stormed Kairu community in Zugu District, killing two locals and taking an unknown number of people hostage.
Children Killed in House Fire Set by Bandits
The violence escalated further in Mada town, Gusau district, where gunmen raided Hayin Bajumi and set a house ablaze.
The fire tragically claimed the lives of two children—five-year-old Ishaq Aliyu and his two-year-old brother Jafar Aliyu.
In the same attack, the gunmen kidnapped a woman and her one-year-old baby before escaping.
Authorities Yet to Respond
As of the time of this report, efforts to reach Zamfara State Police spokesperson, ASP Yazeed Abubakar, for a statement have been unsuccessful.
With insecurity in Zamfara worsening, residents continue to live in fear as bandits carry out relentless attacks without restraint.
The affected families are calling on the government to take swift action to restore peace and protect innocent lives.
