Okitipupa, Ondo State—Shock and grief have enveloped the community of Okitipupa following the brutal murder of Prince Ogo Omoge, the grandson of late iconic musician, Mrs. Comfort Omoge.
According to eyewitness accounts, the tragic incident occurred along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda expressway after an altercation between the deceased and a scavenger took a violent turn. The suspect, identified as Machido Abubakar, allegedly pulled out a dagger and slit Omoge’s throat during the heated exchange.
“It was a minor disagreement that tragically escalated,” a source recounted. “Prince Omoge was attacked suddenly and violently. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he was sadly confirmed dead.”
The quick intervention of the local residents and security operatives led to the prompt arrest of the suspect. Okitipupa council chairman, Andrew Ogunsakin, confirmed the development, commending the swift action of security agents and the cooperative spirit of the community.
Ogunsakin also paid a condolence visit to the grieving family, assuring them that justice will be served.
He called on the people of Okitipupa to stay calm and law-abiding, while also meeting with community leaders—including traditional rulers, youth representatives, and members of the Hausa/Fulani community—to maintain peace and unity.
Ondo State Police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that the suspect is in custody as investigations continue.
This tragic loss has left a void in the Omoge family and the entire Okitipupa community, with many calling for thorough justice and more effective conflict resolution to prevent such senseless killings in the future.
