In a tragic incident, two lives were lost, and two others sustained severe injuries following a suspected bomb explosion at Tsangaya Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Kuchibuyi Village, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, through its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, which occurred on Monday, January 6, 2025, around 11:00 AM. The police responded promptly after receiving a distress call from the Sarki of Kuchibuyi.
The police disclosed that three men from Katsina visited the school’s proprietor, Mallam Adamu Ashimu. It is suspected that they brought the explosive device with them. Unfortunately, two of the visitors died after the device detonated while they were tampering with it on the school’s veranda.
A female trader and the third visitor sustained severe injuries and are currently hospitalized under police surveillance.
The FCT Bomb Squad has confirmed that the explosion resulted from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Remnants of the device have been recovered, and the school proprietor, Mallam Ashimu, is currently in police custody for questioning.
