In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 32-year-old man identified as Andrew Chukwuka Nwosu reportedly took his own life on Thursday morning, April 17, 2025, along Olokoro-Umudike Road in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Andrew, who hailed from Itaja Obuohia Olokoro in the same local government area, allegedly parked his car on the roadside before using his belt to hang himself on a nearby fence. The shocking discovery of his lifeless body left residents and passersby in deep sorrow and confusion.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to ABN TV said they were stunned to see a body hanging on the fence. The disturbing sight quickly drew attention, prompting locals to contact law enforcement authorities.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, told journalists that officers from the Ubakala Police Division responded swiftly to the distress call. Upon arrival, they found the body and immediately began an investigation.
“There was no sign of violence on the body,” DSP Chinaka stated. She further revealed that the corpse had been deposited at Madonna Mortuary for preservation and autopsy, adding that detectives took photographs of the scene as part of the preliminary investigation.
As of now, the motive behind Andrew’s tragic decision remains unclear. Authorities have assured the public that they are thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
