Traditional Ruler and Others Abducted in Edo: Police Launch Rescue Mission

In a distressing development, suspected kidnappers struck in Edo State on Sunday, abducting the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, a revered traditional ruler from the Igueben Local Government Area.

The attack, which also claimed the life of a motorcycle rider, has sparked urgent police intervention.

According to a statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, the number of individuals kidnapped remains uncertain at this time.

The assailants ambushed the traditional ruler while he was traveling on a motorcycle along a secluded route leading to his community.

Tragically, the motorcyclist, commonly known as an Okada rider, was shot dead on the spot before the Onogie was taken away.

In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Betty Otimenyin, has mobilized tactical units, including the Police Mobile Force, to track down the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of the victims.

The Area Commander is personally overseeing the operation as directed by the Commissioner.

This alarming incident adds to the growing security concerns in the region, with residents calling for increased measures to curb the rising wave of kidnappings.
