President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a week-long diplomatic tour of France and South Africa. He landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport around 9:10 pm and was welcomed by top government officials.
Among those present to receive him were Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
The President’s trip began on November 27, when he traveled to Paris, France, at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron for a three-day state visit. Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, was warmly received at the Élysée Palace by President Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.
During the visit, Tinubu and Macron held a joint press conference where Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s progress in combating insecurity. He also oversaw the signing of strategic agreements and memoranda of understanding between Nigeria and France and participated in the Nigeria-France Business Council.
From France, President Tinubu flew to South Africa on Sunday night to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
At the BNC, Tinubu emphasized the need for Nigeria and South Africa to work together to advance the interests of Africa as a whole. He also attended the Nigeria-South Africa Business Forum, further strengthening ties between the two nations.
