Tears and Anguish as Three Siblings Murdered in Anambra Are Laid to Rest

A wave of sorrow swept through Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, as the lifeless bodies of three young siblings—Chikaima Ejezie (9), Chimziterem Ejezie (8), and Chimdirim Ejezie (5)—were laid to rest amid wailing and grief.

The children were brutally murdered and stuffed inside a freezer in their home in Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area, on February 1, 2025, by unknown attackers who struck while their mother was away for an exam.

The killers left the house door open, vanishing without a trace.

A Farewell Filled with Sorrow

At St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Umueze Uga, a burial mass was held in their honor, drawing over 30 priests, community leaders, and a crowd of heartbroken mourners.

The Archbishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Cardinal Ebere Okpalaeke, officiated the ceremony, condemning the horrifying act and comparing it to the biblical story of Cain and Abel.

“Anyone involved in this crime will never know peace. A curse is upon those responsible for these children’s deaths,” the Cardinal declared.

He urged those engaging in violent crimes to repent, warning that justice—both divine and legal—awaits them.

A Family’s Pain, A Community’s Loss

Tears flowed as family members, friends, and schoolmates gathered to bid their final goodbyes.

The tragic loss left many struggling to comprehend how such an atrocity could befall innocent children.

Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Udochukwu Ejezie, expressed their deep sorrow, calling it their worst nightmare and an unimaginable tragedy. However, they took solace in the overwhelming support from the community.

The grieving couple also extended their gratitude to the Anambra State Government and the Nigerian Police, urging authorities to intensify investigations and bring the culprits to justice.

Seeking Justice

This heart-wrenching incident has raised serious concerns about security in Anambra and across Nigeria.

The people of Nnewi are demanding swift action, hoping that the perpetrators will not escape the long arm of the law.
