Super Eagles Can Still Soar to the 2026 World Cup – Otabor-Solomon

Despite a rocky start in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, former Super Eagles invitee, Viv Efosa Solomon-Otabor, believes Nigeria has what it takes to turn the tide and secure a place in the prestigious tournament.

Speaking with optimism, the forward, who currently plays for China’s Cangzhou Mighty Lions, shared his faith in the team’s potential to shine under new coach Eric Chelle.

Otabor-Solomon, who was first called up to the national team in 2019 by Gernot Rohr, remains confident in the Super Eagles’ abilities, calling them “the best squad in Africa.” He emphasized that teamwork, focus, and calmness are key to reclaiming their form.

“The players need to remain calm, unite, and commit to winning all the upcoming matches,” he said. “They should trust their skills, play freely, and everything will come together. I believe the Super Eagles can qualify for the World Cup.

The Super Eagles, currently 5th in Group C with just three points from four matches, face a daunting task.

Their next qualifiers in March 2025 will be pivotal, with an away game against group leaders Rwanda on March 17, followed by a crucial home fixture against Zimbabwe.

Otabor-Solomon highlighted the need for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to provide unwavering support, stressing that a united effort is necessary for success.

Beyond the pitch, the former Birmingham FC player called on fans and stakeholders to rally behind the team. “Support from the NFF and Nigerians is essential. Together, we can inspire the players and push them to victory,” he added.

With the stakes higher than ever, the Super Eagles must channel their collective talent, dedication, and strategy to secure their ticket to the World Cup.
