Tinubu’s Aide Slams Critics, Says President Remains Focused
Sunday Dare, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, has hit back at critics of the administration, referring to them as “wannabes” seeking attention.
His statement comes in response to recent attacks on Tinubu’s leadership by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
El-Rufai and Amaechi’s Criticism
El-Rufai recently accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of straying from its founding principles, saying the party had become unrecognizable.
> “You cannot have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people as leaders and expect good governance,” he stated.
Despite being an APC member, he vowed to continue criticizing the government, even if he were part of Tinubu’s administration.
Similarly, Amaechi, while discussing political power dynamics, claimed that Nigeria’s political elite, including Tinubu, would not willingly hand over power to the younger generation without resistance.
Dare’s Response: ‘Wait for 2027’
In reaction to their remarks, Sunday Dare dismissed their criticisms, urging them to test their popularity in the 2027 elections instead of stirring controversy.
> “While President Tinubu was working on solutions to Nigeria’s energy crisis in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, some ‘wannabes’ were busy heating up the political space,” Dare wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He accused the opposition of spreading negativity and undemocratic sentiments, urging Nigerians to scrutinize political figures carefully.
> “Nigerians must decide between true progressives and political hecklers. The fight is in 2027, not now. Until then, President Tinubu remains focused on improving lives and strengthening the economy.”
