The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, has expressed immense joy and gratitude following the Court of Appeal’s ruling that reaffirmed his selection and installation as the rightful king of Ogbomoso.
The court’s decision, delivered in Ibadan, Oyo State, overturned an earlier judgment that had nullified his appointment, officially putting an end to months of legal battles.
Victory for Ogbomoso: “Justice Has Been Served”
Reacting to the ruling, Oba Olaoye described it as a victory for justice and the people of Ogbomoso.
“Of course, I am happy about it. Justice has been done. The first High Court ruling was flawed, and we were confident it would be overturned.”
The monarch criticized the earlier High Court decision, stating that it ruled on matters that were not even contested in court, making the appeal victory inevitable.
A 25-Year Vision for Ogbomoso’s Future
With the legal hurdles behind him, Oba Olaoye is now fully focused on transforming Ogbomoso into a model city. His 25-year development plan aims to:
✅ Establish primary healthcare centers in every ward
✅ Modernize the city’s two teaching hospitals
✅ Promote digital literacy and tech education for youth
✅ Empower young entrepreneurs through funding and skill development
“We must prepare our people for the future. Healthcare, education, and economic empowerment are the pillars of our vision,” he stated.
Empowering Ogbomoso’s Youth
A key part of the plan is youth empowerment.
The monarch revealed that the Bank of Industry has allocated N88 million to support skills development and business initiatives in Ogbomoso.
“Our young people must be decision-makers, not spectators. We are equipping them with the tools to succeed,” he added.
Unifying the Ogbomoso Community
During a grand reception held for him by Ogbomoso indigenes in Kaduna, Oba Olaoye emphasized the importance of community engagement and unity.
“We need regular meetings with our sons and daughters across Nigeria to ensure they are part of this transformation journey.”
