Six Lives Lost in Kano Fire Incidents, Over N1.1 Billion Property Saved

In January 2025, at least six people lost their lives, while six others were rescued in multiple fire outbreaks across Kano State, according to the state’s Fire Service.

Speaking on Tuesday, SFS Kabiru Isah Jaafar, on behalf of the Fire Service spokesperson Saminu Yusif, revealed that properties worth an estimated ₦1,196,950,600 were salvaged from destruction during the incidents.

Under the leadership of Alhaji Sani Anas, the agency received emergency calls from 29 fire stations across the state, handling 56 fire incidents, 10 rescue operations, and seven false alarms.

Authorities Urge Caution

In response to the alarming fire outbreaks, the fire service has urged residents to be extra cautious, especially during the harmattan season, to prevent further disasters.

Additionally, motorists have been advised to adhere strictly to traffic rules while traveling on highways to minimize the risk of road accidents.
