Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has debunked claims that her recent visit to her hometown was politically motivated.
She clarified that her trip on Monday, April 1, 2025, was solely to celebrate Sallah with her people and had no hidden agenda.
Reacting to speculations that she paid people to attend the event, the senator dismissed the allegations as false and misleading. “This was purely a gathering of love and unity, not politics,” she emphasized.
“The people who came out to welcome me did so willingly, and I deeply appreciate their support and sacrifices.”
Despite government-imposed restrictions on vehicular movement, thousands of her supporters defied the odds, trekking long distances through bush paths to receive her with overwhelming joy.
Some even faced attacks on their way but remained determined to be part of the grand welcome. The senator, who arrived by helicopter, was met with loud cheers, a clear sign of the deep-rooted admiration her people have for her.
Akpoti-Uduaghan highlighted that the crowd represented only a fraction of her supporters across the five local government areas in Kogi Central. She described the turnout as proof of her enduring influence and strong bond with the people.
Beyond the festivities, her visit also underscored her contributions to the region’s development. Notably, the very road where the crowd gathered was one she had facilitated and constructed before even becoming a senator.
Her tenure has been defined by a commitment to infrastructure, empowerment programs, and social welfare initiatives that have positively impacted many lives.
Expressing gratitude for the massive support, she reassured her constituents of her unwavering dedication to their progress. “Your presence here today, despite all the challenges, humbles me,” she said.
“It strengthens my resolve to keep working tirelessly for the development of our land.”
The grand reception further reinforced her popularity in Kogi Central, dispelling narratives pushed by political opponents.
