Segun Sowunmi, the former campaign spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar and a past governorship candidate in Ogun State, has opened up about why the PDP lost the 2023 elections.
He believes that if the party’s ticket had been held by Atiku and Nyesom Wike, the results could have been different.
Sowunmi also suggests that alliances, such as between Atiku and Peter Obi, or Atiku and Wike, could have changed the course of the election, but stresses the importance of understanding voter concerns and not just focusing on tribal affiliations. He argues that the party’s internal divisions and poor leadership choices significantly contributed to the defeat.
Ultimately, Sowunmi calls for more strategic thinking and unity within the PDP to move forward.
