Saudi Arabia Declares Sunday as Eid al-Fitr 2025
Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic festival marking the end of Ramadan, will be observed on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
The declaration came after the sighting of the crescent moon, which determines the start of the new Islamic month.
According to a statement from the Royal Court, published by the Saudi Press Agency on X (formerly Twitter), the Supreme Court confirmed that fasting would conclude on Saturday, March 29, with celebrations beginning the following day.
Other Gulf nations, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar, have also confirmed Sunday as the first day of Eid.
However, Oman and Iran, which follow different moon-sighting traditions, have declared that Eid will begin on Monday, March 31.
Eid Celebrations Amid Global Tensions
Eid al-Fitr is a time of joy and togetherness, where Muslims gather with family and friends to break their fast and offer special prayers.
However, this year’s Ramadan and Eid celebrations have been overshadowed by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where thousands of lives have been lost due to renewed hostilities between Israel and Hamas, according to the health ministry in Gaza.
