Sanwo-Olu Presents Staff of Office to New Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently presented the Staff of Office to Oba Abdurasak Akanni Musa, the newly crowned Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom. This important event took place in the Epe Local Government area at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, where the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kayode Robert, handed over the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment on behalf of the Governor.

Oba Abdurasak Akanni Musa, a professional town planner and graduate of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), ascended the throne with a rich background in urban development. Before becoming the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, he was highly regarded for his expertise in planning and development. His appointment as king is seen as a significant milestone in the history of Igbooye Kingdom.

In his speech, Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fair and balanced development across Lagos State, including the Epe Division. He emphasized the essential role that monarchs play in ensuring peace and harmony within their communities. According to the Governor, these royal leaders are crucial partners in government efforts to foster prosperity.

The Governor, represented by Commissioner Kayode Robert, conveyed congratulations to Oba Abdurasak Akanni Musa for being chosen by the kingmakers and widely accepted by the people of Igbooye. He expressed confidence that the new monarch would lead the kingdom to greater prosperity and strengthen unity among the people. The Governor also highlighted the importance of Oba Musa promoting collaboration with other royal fathers and chiefs in the region.

In addition, the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, also extended his congratulations to Oba Musa. Represented by the Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Adesanya Lateef, Akinloye encouraged the new king to use his wealth of experience to drive development within Igbooye, Eredo LCDA, and the larger Epe Division. He expressed optimism that Oba Musa’s reign would bring about positive changes to the area and Lagos State as a whole.

Akinloye further urged the people of Igbooye to rally behind their new monarch, emphasizing that unity and collective effort would be essential for the kingdom’s growth during his reign.
