The buzz around the upcoming Yoruba film Ori Ade Fadaka is already building, especially after its private screening in Lagos, which received an overwhelming round of applause. Set to premiere in cinemas on February 7, 2025, this film promises to captivate audiences with a gripping tale of love, betrayal, family loyalty, and power struggles—all unfolding within the walls of a royal palace.
The movie centers around a king who’s desperately ill and believes that his son’s love and sacrifice are the only hope for his recovery. As the story unfolds, the royal palace becomes a battlefield of secrets, tensions, and dramatic confrontations. The family’s loyalties are tested, and long-hidden truths are exposed, leaving the kingdom’s future hanging in the balance.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko plays the ailing king, and his performance is sure to strike a chord as the film blends epic storytelling with raw, emotional drama. It’s a moving exploration of a child’s devotion to their parent and the lengths they will go to for family, even in the face of impossible odds.
Producer Kudirat Fatai shared that the story was inspired by a real-life account from her husband, Olanrewaju Fatai, who is also the Executive Producer. She was deeply moved when she first heard the story, and it drove her to bring this powerful narrative to life. Kudirat’s vision for the film is to showcase the richness of Yoruba culture and storytelling on a global scale. “We want the world to hear our stories. The Yoruba language is filled with powerful, meaningful tales,” she said.
Directed by Oluwale Adebayo, Ori Ade Fadaka features an all-star cast including Segun Arinze, Jaiya Kuti, Bimbo Akintola, Aramide Adesiya, and Taiwo Ibikunle. The film will be distributed by Theophilus Akatugba’s Ovueta Nigeria Limited.
With its heart-wrenching storyline, unforgettable characters, and a cast of talented actors, Ori Ade Fadaka is set to be a cinematic experience that celebrates Yoruba culture and storytelling at its finest.
