Tensions in the Rivers State Assembly escalated on Tuesday, October 15, as Speaker Martin Amaewhule made a pivotal move by declaring the seats of four pro-Fubara lawmakers vacant. Among them was Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Amaewhule, a staunch ally of former Governor and current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, justified his decision by citing the lawmakers’ prolonged absence from sessions, totaling 152 days.
