In a surprising turn of events, the House of Representatives has reversed its decision on a bill aimed at stripping the Vice President, state governors, and their deputies of immunity.
The bill, which had passed a second reading earlier, was reconsidered during Thursday’s plenary session.
The Majority Leader, Julius Ihonvbere, moved a motion for the reversal, which was adopted under the leadership of Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
This decision comes amid debates on the necessity of immunity for top political officeholders and the push for accountability in governance.
