The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated that the building which collapsed in the Orile area earlier today, October 14, had been evacuated two weeks prior and was already marked for demolition.
In a statement released, Omotoso said no casualty was recorded in the incident.
‘’A distressed storey building already marked for demolition has collapsed in Orile-Iganmu.
No casualty was recorded as the building had been evacuated two weeks before the incident. In fact, it had been marked for demolition.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Fire Service , Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Police are at the scene to ensure there are no secondary incidents.”
