President Tinubu Pays Emotional Tribute to Late Business Icon Pascal Dozie

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned entrepreneur and former MTN Nigeria chairman, Pascal Dozie.

In a heartfelt statement issued by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, Tinubu described Dozie as an exceptional business figure whose contributions to Nigeria’s private sector are unforgettable.

Dozie, aged 85, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Tuesday. He was the founder of the defunct Diamond Bank and served as the pioneer chairman of telecom giant, MTN Nigeria.

President Tinubu described the late business magnate as “a rare breed leader whose wisdom, humility, and pioneering spirit laid a foundation for countless others to build upon.”

He further stated, “His passing is a profound loss, not just to his family, but to the entire nation and its business community.”

Tinubu extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for peace over his soul and strength for his wife, children, and extended relatives during this difficult time.

The president also urged the private sector to honour Dozie’s legacy by embracing values he championed—integrity, innovation, and nation-building.

Pascal Dozie’s name remains etched in Nigeria’s economic history as a visionary who played a critical role in shaping the financial and telecommunications industries.
