Presidency Slams Nigerien Leader’s False Allegations: A Desperate Attempt to Stir Conflict

The Nigerian Presidency has swiftly rejected the recent claims made by the military leader of Niger Republic, Abdourahamane Tchiani, accusing Nigeria of conspiring with France to destabilize his country. In an interview earlier this week, Tchiani alleged that France was using Nigeria to negotiate with terrorists, further claiming that Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu received substantial payments to allow France to set up a military base in Nigeria.

In response, Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, took to social media to denounce these accusations as “baseless” and “despicable propaganda.” He accused Tchiani of using false claims to divert attention from the growing economic difficulties in Niger and to create division, particularly in northern Nigeria, against President Tinubu.

“This is the kind of propaganda we often see from military regimes trying to maintain their hold on power,” Bwala said. “Tchiani is desperate. His country’s economy is in trouble, and instead of focusing on solutions, he’s spreading lies to deflect attention.”

Bwala went on to highlight Nigeria’s long-standing leadership role in West Africa and its commitment to fostering strong, peaceful relations with its neighbors. He emphasized that Nigeria has never agreed to allow any foreign military base on its soil, reaffirming that the country is fully capable of safeguarding its own citizens.

“The claims are simply not true,” Bwala continued. “Nigeria has always worked hard to maintain positive relationships in the region, and these lies are designed to cause chaos. No one should take them seriously.”

The Nigerian government has called on its citizens to disregard Tchiani’s divisive rhetoric and stand united behind President Tinubu. In a time of growing tension, the government urges the public to support efforts to keep Nigeria strong and united.
