Police Discover LASU Graduate’s Burial Site, Arrest Key Suspect

Lagos State Police Command Confirms Breakthrough in Murder Case

The Lagos State Police Command has uncovered the shallow grave of Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), following the arrest of the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

According to reports, Ajisomo, who was previously rumored to have escaped to the Benin Republic, was apprehended on Monday in the Alakuko area of Lagos. He has since been cooperating with detectives, leading them to the location where Ogunbode was buried.

How the Case Unfolded

Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate, had been missing since January 16, 2025. Speculations about his tragic fate were confirmed when his mutilated remains were discovered.

Last week, the Lagos State Police Command arrested three suspects and launched a manhunt for five more individuals believed to be involved in the crime.

Among the arrested suspects was Whepetoji Sunday, a pastor accused of receiving N70,000 from the victim’s account, and Sheriff Adebayo, a church member who allegedly received N300,000.

In a shocking twist, the prime suspect’s mother, Omolara Ajisomo, was also taken into custody. She is accused of aiding her children, Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo, in fleeing after they each allegedly received N300,000 from Ogunbode’s account.

Suspect Confesses to the Crime

Lagos State Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest of Olaoluwa Ajisomo and stated that the suspect was responsible for emptying Ogunbode’s bank account using his mobile phone.

“The principal suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo, was arrested yesterday (Monday) morning in the Alakuko area. He was the one who cleared the victim’s bank account through the victim’s mobile phone,” Hundeyin said.

Contrary to social media speculations, Hundeyin clarified that Ogunbode’s grave was not located within the church premises where the arrested cleric worshipped.

However, authorities have sealed off the church after receiving intelligence about a potential attack on the premises by angry individuals seeking revenge.

Police Set to Recover Ogunbode’s Body

An insider source revealed that Ajisomo has confessed to the murder, and police operatives are now heading to exhume Ogunbode’s remains.

“I just received information that the newly arrested suspect has confessed to killing the LASU graduate, and the police are on their way to the burial site,” the source disclosed.

When contacted for confirmation, Hundeyin simply responded, “Confirmed.”
