Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has emphasized the need for Nigerian leaders to respect the opinions of citizens and work collectively for the nation’s progress.
Speaking in Yola during the 16th Annual Founder’s Day and 20th Anniversary celebration of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Obi highlighted the importance of humility and collaboration in leadership.
“Nigeria cannot achieve meaningful development without leaders who engage with the people and prioritize the right actions,” Obi remarked, urging leaders to avoid a “know-it-all” approach.
At the same event, Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the PDP, defended his vision for the AUN. He stated that the university was intentionally modeled after the American educational system, offering Nigerians access to world-class education without the need to travel abroad.
