Benin City, April 7, 2025 – Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Samson Osagie, has said it was clear from the outset that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had no valid case against Governor Monday Okpebholo’s victory in the 2024 gubernatorial election.
Speaking during the 10th-year remembrance ceremony of his late father, Pa Samson Imarhiagbe-Ogbewe, in Urhokuosa, Uhunmwode LGA, Osagie criticized the PDP and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, for failing to provide solid evidence to back their claims.
“You can’t win a tribunal case by simply throwing tantrums. There were no eyewitnesses and no concrete proof. Dumping documents in court without guiding the tribunal through them is not how justice works,” Osagie said.
He further noted that the PDP’s failure to demonstrate how their evidence related to the BVAS machines used in the election showed a lack of seriousness.
> “If the court had to study BVAS themselves, they’d probably need Harvard training,” he added with sarcasm.
On the remembrance of his father, Osagie appreciated friends, family, and dignitaries who came to support, promising to uphold his father’s legacy of hard work and integrity.
The event was graced by notable APC figures, including Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former deputy governor Philip Shaibu, Finance Commissioner Osareitin Edosomwan, and Emmanuel Okoebor.
