PDP Expels South East National Vice Chairman, Ali Odefa, Fixes Fees for Key Positions
By Abdulmajeed Abdullateef

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially expelled Chief Ali Odefa, the National Vice Chairman for the South East zone, from its fold. The decision follows a series of disciplinary actions, starting with Odefa’s suspension on September 11, 2024, by the PDP Oguduokwor Ward in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The suspension was based on allegations of anti-party activities.

This action gained further legal backing when a ruling from the Federal High Court in Abakaliki, delivered on November 29, 2024, upheld Odefa’s suspension in a case filed under Suit No: FHC/AI/CS/182/2024.

The expulsion was formally announced by the Acting Chairman of PDP’s Oguduokwor Ward, Hon. Onyeka Herbert Ovuta, alongside other members of the Ward Executives. According to Ovuta, the expulsion followed a comprehensive investigation by the Ward’s Disciplinary Committee, which found sufficient grounds to expel Odefa in accordance with the party’s constitution.

“The report, findings, and recommendations of the Ward Disciplinary Committee led to this decision. Chief Ali Odefa is now officially expelled from the PDP, and by virtue of his suspension and expulsion, he ceases to be a member of our party,” Ovuta declared.

This marks a significant move in the ongoing efforts to address what the party perceives as Odefa’s actions against its interests. The PDP is keen to maintain discipline within its ranks, ensuring that members adhere strictly to party regulations and work towards its collective goals.

In related developments, the PDP has set new fees for key party positions, including N5 million for the chairmanship form, N3 million for the deputy national chairman, and N3 million for the position of national secretary.

These actions come at a time when the PDP is preparing for its internal elections and restructuring.
