PDP Criticizes Sokoto Government Over Local Council Fund Mismanagement

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has raised alarm over how local government funds are being handled under the current All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with PDP executives from across the state, zonal, and local government levels, the State Chairman, Hon. Bello Aliyu Goronyo, voiced concerns about a lack of transparency in managing local council resources.

Goronyo claimed that many local governments in Sokoto are grappling with severe financial challenges, which he attributed to poor governance practices. He warned that if these issues aren’t urgently addressed, they could jeopardize local development projects and hinder the delivery of vital public services.

He also pointed to the deteriorating state of infrastructure in the state, particularly the lack of access to clean drinking water in some parts of the Sokoto metropolis.

He urged the APC-led administration to prioritize residents’ welfare and take decisive action to resolve these challenges.

Despite the concerns, Hon. Goronyo remained confident about the PDP’s future, expressing hope ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections. He reassured citizens that the PDP is working on offering a better, more people-centered alternative.

“Our people deserve leadership that truly cares,” Goronyo said. “The PDP is ready to deliver solutions that speak to the real needs of our communities.”

As the road to 2027 begins to take shape, the PDP reiterated its readiness to engage the public on key governance matters and earn back the trust of the electorate.
