Nigerian tech entrepreneur and investor, Oyemonlan Benjamin Oseoje, has called on young Africans to be intentional about their future by setting goals and creating their own opportunities in today’s fast-moving tech space.
Sharing insights from his journey, Oyemonlan stated, “To be a go-getter, you must first be a goal-setter.” He stressed the importance of thinking ahead and taking action today, no matter how tough it seems.
“Do something today that your future self will thank you for. It’s going to be hard, but hard does not mean impossible. Instead of waiting for the opportunity, create it,” he advised.
As the founder of Platnova, a cutting-edge digital payments and lifestyle platform serving Africa and the diaspora, Oyemonlan believes real success is rooted in turning passion into service. “The best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others,” he said.
He explained that his multiple tech ventures were born from solving real-life problems. “Every business idea I’ve developed started with a problem I experienced. If I find a workable solution, I amplify it to reach others facing the same challenge,” he shared.
This problem-solving approach has led to the organic growth of business ideas and consistent value creation. Alongside Platnova, Oyemonlan co-founded Zap.Africa, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange, and Shortlet.app, an African-focused version of Airbnb.
Honoured as an ECOWAS Youth Ambassador, Oyemonlan has gained global recognition for building inclusive financial systems and scalable tech solutions for emerging markets.
Looking into the future, he revealed bold plans to expand Platnova further by introducing physical USD cards, AI-driven financial automation, and business wallets. He also aims to launch a global talent initiative to empower and invest in the next generation of African tech entrepreneurs.
With partnerships in motion and a seed funding round in the pipeline, Oyemonlan says he’s focused on something far greater than apps. “We’re not just building platforms—we’re building ecosystems,” he said.
