Court Battle Over Council Leadership
- The APP filed a contempt suit at the Federal High Court in Osogbo under suit number FHC/OS/CS/103/22.
- Defendants in the case include the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and others.
- The legal move follows a court judgment delivered on November 30, 2022, which declared the local government election null and void, effectively sacking APC-backed council executives.
APP Demands Enforcement of Court Ruling
- Despite the ruling, the sacked executives have refused to leave office, prompting APP to demand their removal.
- The party urged the court to enforce its ruling by committing the defendants to prison for contempt if they do not vacate their positions.
Court’s Warning to Defendants
A motion presented before the court stated:
“As of today, March 11, the sacked executives continue to forcefully occupy offices in the 30 local government councils in Osun State.
They must immediately comply with the lawful order of the Federal High Court or face contempt charges.”
