Ondo LG Poll: Governor Aiyedatiwa Urges APC Candidates to Stay Focused

By NIGPOST Reporter

Ahead of the Ondo State local government elections, scheduled for January 18, 2025, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to avoid complacency and stay strategic in their campaigns.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, speaking at a meeting in Akure with APC candidates for chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councillorship across the 18 local governments, emphasized the need to consolidate on the party’s past successes.

He stated that the upcoming election was not only about securing a win but also about reinforcing the party’s position as the voice of the people.

“We have laid a solid foundation as a party, and it is now time for us to build on it.

Let’s prove to the people that we are their true leaders by working hard to achieve victory in this election. My support is unwavering, but I urge you to avoid overconfidence.

Stay focused, remain strategic, and work diligently,” Aiyedatiwa advised.

The governor urged the candidates to demonstrate their commitment to the party and the people, highlighting that citizens are looking for leaders who can deliver on their promises.

“Our people are watching. Show them your capacity to bring change at the grassroots level. Prove that you are capable of making a difference,” he said.

Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Ade Adetimehin, congratulated the candidates and reminded them of the weight of responsibility on their shoulders.

He encouraged them to intensify their grassroots campaigns and to represent the party with integrity.

“This is a pivotal moment for you all. You carry the trust of the party and the people. Do not disappoint us. Be good ambassadors of the APC and never betray the trust placed in you,” Aiyedatiwa concluded.
