The Chairman of Okehi Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Amoka Eneji, has imposed a curfew in the region, a move perceived as an effort to prevent the planned homecoming of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for Sallah celebrations with her constituents.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Eneji emphasized that the decision was made to maintain peace and order in line with the ban on all political rallies and unregulated public gatherings within the LGA.
Curfew Takes Immediate Effect
According to the chairman’s statement, the curfew is now in effect and restricts movement in designated areas.
“Anyone found violating the curfew by gathering or moving around restricted locations without official authorization will be arrested and prosecuted.
This directive aligns with the orders of the state government and the Kogi State Commissioner of Police,” the statement read.
Eneji reiterated that ensuring public safety remains the top priority of his administration, warning that any actions that could threaten peace and stability in Okehi LGA will not be tolerated.
Security Measures in Place
The Okehi LGA leadership, in collaboration with security agencies, is actively monitoring the situation to prevent potential security threats.
Residents have been urged to stay calm and cooperate with the authorities to uphold law and order in the community.
