Ogun Police Commissioner Regrets Unsolved Murder of Finance Director as He Retires

Retiring Ogun State Police Commissioner, Abiodun Alamutu, has expressed sadness over the unsolved murder of Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, a Director of Finance in the Governor’s Office. This tragic event happened on November 29, 2023, during an armed robbery incident. Mr. Oyekanmi was ambushed and killed while returning from a bank where he had gone to withdraw funds for official use.

Despite significant police efforts to apprehend the suspects, the case remains unresolved, leaving the perpetrators still at large. In response to the incident, Governor Dapo Abiodun placed a ₦50 million bounty for anyone with credible information that could lead to the arrest of the killers.

As CP Alamutu retires after serving the Nigeria Police Force for 35 years, he expressed his hope that the next police leadership in Ogun State will continue investigating the case to ensure justice is served. His heartfelt statement reflects his commitment to justice and his regret over leaving the case unsolved as he steps away from active duty.
