Tragedy struck in Ageri Village, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State, as a 50-year-old farmer, Alfa Mustapha, was found dead with bullet wounds on his farm.
According to the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, Mustapha had gone to his farm in the morning but failed to return home as expected.
Concerned about his prolonged absence, a resident decided to check on him and made the grim discovery.
Police Investigation Underway
The Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, reported the incident to the Olodo Police Outstation at around 6:30 PM on February 22, 2025.
He had gone to check on the farmer and found his lifeless body lying face up with a cutlass beside him.
Police officers responded to the scene and transported the body to the General Hospital in Odeda, where doctors confirmed that Mustapha had died from close-range gunshot wounds.
Call for Public Assistance
In response, Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo has ordered a full-scale investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder.
He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, assuring that all reports would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
Authorities are calling on the public to assist in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the killing, as justice must be served.
