Renowned virologist and former Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Prof. Oyewale Tomori, has urged the Federal Government to ensure its economic reforms produce tangible results that ease the suffering of Nigerians.
Speaking on the Friday edition of Inside Sources with Laolu Akande, aired on Channels Television, Tomori stressed that citizens have endured enough hardship and need to start seeing positive changes.
“Patience Has a Limit” – Tomori Warns
Tomori acknowledged that government policies, such as the removal of petrol subsidies and foreign exchange unification, were introduced with long-term benefits in mind.
However, he emphasized that people can only wait so long before frustration sets in.
“We must not just think of the immediate but also the long term. Where are these policies leading us? Will they make life better? If so, then patience is needed,” he said.
Despite recognizing some progress, he cautioned that it is not enough to simply urge Nigerians to be patient.
“It is easy to tell Nigerians: ‘Be patient, be patient.’ But we’ve been patient all along. The government must understand that patience has a time limit. People need to see real changes improving their daily lives,” he added.

Tomori also called on the government to tackle insecurity, improve electricity supply, and create a better environment for citizens to thrive.
Additionally, he urged state governments to take a more active role in governance rather than relying solely on the federal administration.
