Nigerian Troops Kill 109 Terrorists, Arrest 81 Suspects in One Week – Defence HQ

The Defence Headquarters has announced a major success in its fight against terrorism. In the first week of January 2025, Nigerian troops neutralized 109 terrorists, arrested 81 suspects, and rescued 43 kidnapped hostages.

Operations Yield Positive Results
In a statement released on Friday, Major General Buba Edward, Director of Defence Media Operations, shared the details of various military operations across the country:

Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East successfully eliminated 64 terrorists, apprehended 28 suspects, and rescued 14 hostages.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA carried out airstrikes on January 3 at Alawa Forest in Niger State, destroying terrorist structures and logistics while neutralizing 21 terrorists.

In the Niger Delta, troops disrupted illegal oil refining operations worth over ₦618 million, destroyed refining sites, and seized equipment used in crude oil theft.

Major General Edward reaffirmed the military’s dedication to safeguarding Nigeria, calling on citizens to stay vigilant and support security agencies.

“The armed forces are committed to ensuring a safer and more secure nation,” he stated.
