Nigerian Troops Decimate Turji’s Stronghold, Kill Dozens of Bandits in Zamfara

In a significant victory against banditry, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have destroyed the stronghold of notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji in Zamfara State.

This combined air and ground assault, executed on January 10, 2025, dealt a devastating blow to bandits terrorizing the region.

Tactical Success in Fakai Hills

The operation targeted Fakai Hills, a known bandit enclave, where scores of criminals loyal to Turji were neutralized.

According to Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olusola Akinboyewa, spokesperson for the Nigerian Air Force, the coordinated airstrikes and ground offensives inflicted heavy casualties on the bandits, leaving many injured and disorganized.

“Local intelligence revealed that several top commanders loyal to Turji were among those severely injured, while Turji’s whereabouts remain unknown, further weakening his crumbling network,” AVM Akinboyewa stated.

Real-Time Precision Strikes

The operation was meticulously executed, with real-time intelligence from an aerial reconnaissance platform ensuring precise targeting. Rockets and cannons were deployed in multiple passes, effectively dismantling enemy positions.

Ground troops maintained close coordination with aircrew to ensure thorough execution.

Desperate bandits were observed fleeing eastward, but additional engagements neutralized many of them.

The operation also freed several kidnapped victims, providing relief to families affected by the region’s insecurity.

Community Relief and Military Commitment

The successful operation has brought widespread relief to residents of Zamfara State, who celebrated the military’s victory against the bandits.

AVM Akinboyewa reaffirmed the Nigerian Armed Forces’ dedication to eradicating criminality, emphasizing their commitment to restoring peace and prosperity across the nation.

“This operation demonstrates our resolve to defeat enemies threatening our nation’s security.

Together, we will achieve lasting peace for our great country,” Akinboyewa concluded.
