Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has revealed that her decision to use a helicopter for her recent visit to her constituency was an idea proposed by her husband.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan addressed the controversy surrounding her visit, which took place despite the Kogi State government’s recent restrictions on political rallies and convoys, citing security concerns.
Despite these limitations, a large crowd of supporters gathered in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area, to welcome her. While addressing them, she boldly stated, “This is my home, this is my town. Nobody can stop me from coming home. I am the daughter of the late Dr. Abdul Akpoti.”
During the interview, she explained that her husband came up with the idea of using a helicopter after all roads leading to her house were blocked.
“It was my husband’s idea. Since all roads leading to my house were blocked, he suggested we use a helicopter instead,” she disclosed.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also claimed the imposed restrictions were deliberately targeted at her, as they coincided with her planned visit.
“But I didn’t break any law. The gathering took place on my property. I built the road leading to my house. So, there was no law broken,” she asserted.
Her statement has since sparked discussions about political maneuvering in Kogi State and the level of restrictions imposed on political movements in the region.
