The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has once again demonstrated its military precision and strength by carrying out two powerful airstrikes that took down terrorist enclaves in Borno State.
According to NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the strikes were executed under Operation Hadin Kai, focusing on long-standing insurgent strongholds in Kollaram and Arra within the Sambisa forest area and the Southern Tumbuns.
The first attack occurred at about 5:30 a.m. in Kollaram, following credible intelligence and surveillance footage that revealed the presence of high-ranking terrorist leaders and operational facilities, including solar-powered structures. The airstrike reportedly eliminated numerous fighters and disrupted key infrastructure.
Later that day, at around 3:55 p.m., a second strike hit Arra, another notorious hideout. Real-time visuals from Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirmed the presence of armed militants. Precision-guided weapons were deployed, leading to the destruction of the terrorists’ facilities and significantly weakening their operational strength.
These efforts are part of a renewed air campaign to dismantle terrorist groups and cut off their leadership and support networks.
In a related operation, the Defence Headquarters announced the elimination of a notorious terrorist leader, Bello Kaura, during a precision airstrike carried out by troops under Operation Fasin Yamma. Kaura was among several terrorists neutralized between April 10 and 16 across Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Niger, and Kwara States, including the Federal Capital Territory.
Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, said the coordinated efforts, involving the military, security agencies, and hybrid forces, led to deadly clashes with insurgents, arrest of suspects, and the rescue of 17 kidnapped victims.
Additionally, troops under Operation DELTA SAFE thwarted illegal oil operations worth over ₦262.7 million. They recovered massive quantities of stolen crude oil, illegal petroleum products, and destroyed dozens of illegal refining setups and equipment.
General Kangye reaffirmed the military’s dedication to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and protecting law-abiding citizens. He called on the public to continue supporting the Armed Forces in their quest for lasting peace and security.
