The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a powerful airstrike on terrorist hideouts in the Chikide and Degbewa areas of Mandara Mountains, dealing a devastating blow to insurgent activities.
The precision night operation, conducted on March 16, 2025, successfully neutralized several terrorists and dismantled key terrorist infrastructure.
How the Operation Unfolded
According to Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, the mission was a demonstration of advanced air power and precision warfare.
“The night operation targeted insurgent enclaves deep within the treacherous Mandara Mountains, disrupting their strongholds and activities,” Ali stated.
The strike was based on credible Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data, which revealed that notorious terrorist leader Ali Ngulde and his fighters were gathering for a high-level meeting.
ISR missions confirmed heavy terrorist presence at a key assembly point in Degbewa, where they had fortified structures powered by solar energy, signaling an active command hub.
Total Surprise and Maximum Impact
Armed with this intelligence, the NAF launched a surprise night strike, catching the insurgents off guard. The operation resulted in:
- The destruction of the terrorists’ command center.
- Large fires engulfing multiple structures.
- The elimination of several terrorists in their hideouts.
Significance of the Strike
This mission is part of ongoing efforts to weaken Boko Haram’s operational capabilities and create a more favorable battleground for ground troops.
“The successful execution of this night operation underscores the NAF’s growing dominance in both day and night air power. Insurgents can no longer hide under the cover of darkness,” Ali emphasized.
With continuous air raids and precision strikes, the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to eliminating terrorist threats and restoring lasting peace to the region.
