Military Reports Over 8,000 Terrorists Neutralized and 11,600 Arrested in 2024

The Nigerian military has announced significant achievements in its operations against terrorism and criminal activities across the country for the year 2024. According to Major General Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, troops have neutralized 8,034 terrorists and arrested 11,623 suspects since January.

In addition to these efforts, the military has rescued 6,376 kidnapped victims and recovered substantial amounts of stolen crude oil and illegally refined products. Specifically, troops have seized 53 million liters of stolen crude oil, over 9 million liters of illegally refined diesel, and significant quantities of other petroleum products.

The operations have also led to the recovery of 8,216 weapons, including over 4,000 AK-47 rifles, and more than 211,000 rounds of ammunition.

Major General Buba emphasized that the military remains committed to maintaining pressure on criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of citizens nationwide.

In a related development, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has urged operational commanders to enhance their strategic leadership skills to effectively address national security challenges. He made this call during the inauguration of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Leadership and Strategic Studies Course 3/2024 in Abuja.

These developments underscore the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian military to combat terrorism and criminal activities, aiming to create a safer environment for all citizens.
