Manchester United Eyes Osimhen as Potential Signing

Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker currently playing for Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, is reportedly being targeted by Manchester United.

The club is seeking reinforcements to address their ongoing struggles in attack, with the team scoring just 13 goals in 12 Premier League matches this season.

This poor offensive performance was one of the key factors in the dismissal of former manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite a strong defensive record, with only Arsenal and Liverpool conceding fewer goals than United, the club’s inability to finish chances has been a major issue.

Under new coach Ruben Amorim, who shares many of the frustrations with his predecessor, United has been looking to bolster their forward line.

Osimhen is one of four strikers on the club’s shortlist, along with Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoush, and Victor Boniface.

Osimhen has been in impressive form since joining Galatasaray, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists in 10 games.

His physical and direct playing style fits well with Amorim’s tactical system, drawing comparisons to Viktor Gyokeres, a striker thriving under Amorim’s guidance at Sporting Lisbon.

A €75 million release clause for Osimhen becomes active in January 2025, making him an attainable but expensive target for Manchester United.

Given the club’s need for a prolific striker, the high cost may not deter them, especially considering their financial resources.

This news follows other reports of interest from Juventus and Galatasaray’s stance against Osimhen leaving in January.

United’s pursuit of the 25-year-old could be a pivotal move as they look to improve their attack in the second half of the season.
